Children playing on swings at the National Home for Jewish Children
Photo of children playing on swings
William Blumenthal, fundraiser, stands with 37 children on the playground of the National Home for Jewish Children near 19th and Lowell in Denver, Colo. Children pictured include Dan Justman, Sara Appel, Fred Vean, Fanny Barret, Doris Greenstein, Joey Barret, Mildred Vean, Rachel Passman, and Benny Passman. Originally founded as the Denver Sheltering Home in 1907, the home was established for the children of Jewish consumptives, but it also served as an orphanage for Jewish youth, and later as a facility to care for sick Jewish children.
